About the exhibition
This exhibition was produced as part of the "ès lettres" project, dedicated to the study of doctoral theses in humanities defended in France in the nineteenth century. This project is supported by the Groupement d’intérêt scientifique CollEx-Persée. It is carried out in collaboration with many partners, including the Bibliothèque nationale de France, to whom we are grateful for digitizing a large number of theses from the BIS collections, which are highlighted in this exhibition.
We would also like to thank the Bibliothèque de l’Institut de France and the Bibliothèque municipale de Nantes, which have kindly digitized letters from their collections free of charge for this exhibition.
